Keynote Speaker: John C. Kois, DMD, MSD
Dr. John Kois received his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine and Certificate in Periodontal Prosthodontics with a M.S.D. degree from the University of Washington School of Dentistry. He maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics in Tacoma and Seattle, and is an Affiliate Professor in the Graduate Restorative Program at the University of Washington. Dr. Kois continues to lecture nationally and internationally, is reviewer for the International Journal of Prosthodontics and is a member of the Editorial Board for The Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry. Dr. Kois is the recipient of the 2002 Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning. His memberships to professional organizations include American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. In addition, he continues to work with restorative dentists at the Kois Center, a didactic and clinical teaching program.
Rella Christensen, RDH, PhD
Dr. Rella Christensen co-founded Clinical Research Associates (CRA Foundation) in 1976, and for 27 years directed this well-known dental products testing institute. Subsequently she served as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Currently she is the team leader of a non-profit institute dedicated to in-depth and long-term clinical studies of restorative materials, preventive dentistry, and dental caries, known as Technologies in Restoratives And Caries Research (TRAC Research). She practiced dental hygiene for 25 years and founded the dental hygiene program at University of Colorado. She earned a PhD in physiology, emphasis on microbiology from BYU.
V. Kim Kutsch, DMD
Dr. Kim Kutsch received his undergraduate degree from Westminster College in Utah and then completed his DMD at University of Oregon School of Dentistry in 1979. He is an inventor holding numerous patents in dentistry, product consultant, internationally recognized speaker, is past president of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and the WCMID. He also has served on the board of directors for the WCLI and the AACD. As an author, Dr. Kutsch has published dozens of articles and abstracts on minimally invasive dentistry, caries risk assessment, digital radiography and other technologies in both dental and medical journals and contributed to several textbooks. He also acts as a reviewer for several journals. Dr. Kutsch currently serves are CEO of two dental companies and maintains a private practice in Albany Oregon.
Bruce Peltier is Professor of Psychology and Ethics at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. He is a 1970 graduate of West Point and has a master’s in Education, a doctorate in counseling psychology, and an M.B.A. He received the University of the Pacific’s 2001 teacher-scholar award and the distinguished adjunct faculty award this year at the University of San Francisco. The second edition of his book The Psychology of Executive Coaching, published by Brunner-Routledge is due out in September. He is past president of the San Francisco Academy of Hypnosis and of the American Society for Dental Ethics. Dr. Peltier will present on psychological and behavior components of the dentist-patient relationship as related to CAMBRA and caries control.
Stewart Rosenberg, DDS
Dr. Stewart Rosenberg is one of the most entertaining and sought after speakers in dentistry. He is a pioneer and innovator in the use of dental lasers, micro-air abrasion and other high tech dental instruments and applications. He is a founder and past president of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, a Master of laser dentistry and recipient of the Academy's Distinguished Service Award. He is also a founder and Diplomat Of the World Clinical Laser Institute, where he currently serves on its Executive Board. Dr. Rosenberg is a founder, diplomat, and past president of the World Congress Of Minimally Invasive Dentistry . He is recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for 2000 and Clinician of the Year for 2001. He is a member of Society of Oral Laser Applications and serves on the Editorial Board of their journal. He is a fellow of the International Society of Laser Dentists, the American Society of Laser Medicine , the International College Of Craniomandibular Orthopedics, theAmerican Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Academy of General Dentistry and many other organizations. Dr. Rosenberg maintains a busy private practice emphasizing cosmetic and laser dentistry, is an attending doctor at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He lectures frequently around the world, has appeared on numerous television shows and is a regular contributor and advisor to many dental publications. He has been regularly named to Dentistry Today’s Top Clinicians In Dental Education.
Lloyd Tilt, DDS, MS
Dr. Lloyd Tilt is a periodontist with a full-time practice in Ogden, Utah. He received his DDS and Specialty Certificate in Periodontics at Loyola University in Chicago. The first periodontist licensed to perform LANAP, he now has over 7 years experience with this modality. Dr. Tilt is a certified instructor with the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry and has given many lectures for Millennium Dental Technologies.
Mario Vilardi, DMD
Dr. Mario Vilardi received his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1974, where he later was awarded a teaching fellowship where he participated in clinical research. He attended the University of Pennsylvania for postgraduate training and received his specialty certification in Periodontics in 1977. He became a diplomate in the American Academy of Periodontology in 1982. He maintains a private practice in Fishkill, NY as a Periodontist and Implantologist. Dr. Vilardi has published papers on laser therapy, antibacterial mouth rinses, bone regeneration, and and cosmetic dentistry as it relates to implant technology. He has lectured extensively in the areas of implant and bone regeneration techniques. He was an Associate Clinical Professor at Columbia University in New York, where he was responsible for the Occlusion and Adjunctive Orthodontic courses from 1979 - 1989, and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania from 2002-2006. In addition to his lecturing and practice, Dr. Vilardi is the creator of Dear Doctor - Dentistry & Oral Health magazine. Dear Doctor is a quarterly patient education magazine written for the consumer as a patient advocate magazine to provide valuable information on all aspects of dentistry.
Douglas Young, DDS, MS, MBA
Dr. Doug Young is an active and ardent educator in the field of minimally invasive dentistry, dental materials, and cariology. He serves on several boards and has presented at congresses around the world including the World Clinical Laser Institute, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the World Congress of Minimal Invasive Dentistry, as well as several universities. Dr. Young has also been published in several peer-reviewed dental journals and textbooks. In addition to speaking and publishing, Dr. Young also conducts extensive research on minimal invasive dentistry, lasers, and cariology. He has performed clinical trials using lasers, as well as studying caries inhibition by laser irradiation, and optical caries detection technologies. Dr. Young is an Associate Professor, University of the Pacific and is also an Associate Clinical Professor, Adjunct, at the University of California - San Francisco. Dr Young also has an AB in Bacteriology from the University of California, Berkeley, a DDS from the University of California, San Francisco, a MBA from the University of the Pacific, Stockton, and a MS in Oral Biology from the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Young completed a General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital, San Francisco in 1982. He decided to pursue full time teaching after 15 years of successful private practice in California. He is currently active in teaching clinical dentistry to the students at Pacific and research at UCSF.
Raymond Yukna, DMD
Dr. Raymond Yukna is Professor and Director of Advanced Periodontal Therapies at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry and has a part-time private practice. He is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Periodontology and the American Board of Oral Medicine, and is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He is a former Director of the American Board of Periodontology. A graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, he received his periodontal training at the National Naval Dental Center, Bethesda, Maryland, and a Master of Science Degree from George Washington University. Prior to accepting his current position, he was Director of Graduate Periodontics at Louisiana State University in New Orleans; and prior to that in full-time private practice in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Yukna is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Academy of Osseointegration, the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry, and the IADR; and is continuing his research and publications concentrating in the fields of reconstructive periodontics, bone grafting, dental implants, and laser uses in periodontics.
